Reframing the Artist Residency: Conversations with Harrell Fletcher

Now available for pre-order is Reframing the Artist Residency: Conversations with Harrell Fletcher. This is to gauge interest and fund the pre-production of this documentary publication.

Reframing the Artist Residency highlights ten conversations between artists Harrell Fletcher and Chris Battaglia, including two transcribed conversations, two piloted artist residency concepts, and notes from the rest of the dialogues on public and participatory art. Battaglia and Fletcher discuss art in a socially-engaged practice through the lens of artist project Village Canoe, a multi-disciplinary artist residency experience. Through spinning rich and meandering yarns over the telephone in the summer of 2020 during the coronavirus pandemic, the two workshop the Village Canoe from its inaugural canoe expedition and pop-up art exhibition in 2019, and set a course for the future of the project through more participatory modalities.
